DSLR Workshops’ 2nd photo contest is open for submissions! All entries due July 31st 2010.

Last contest's winner by Michelle Stone.

It’s time to dig through those files again because my second photo contest is upon us.  I figured I would put the rules in a blog post so you won’t have to dig through your emails to find it later.  Here are the rules:

  • Contest is for DSLR Workshops participants and photos must have been taken post attending a workshop.
  • Photos must have been taken from 1/1/2010 to 6/30/2010 and must be submitted by the July 31st, 11:59PM deadline.
  • You may only submit 2 photos. There is no theme so just send in your great photos of anything.
  • Photos must have been taken in RAW format.
  • Submit your 2 JPEGs to dslrworkshops@gmail.com
  • Winners will be announced on my Facebook page Monday August 2nd at 11AM so join now!

I know what you’re thinking… “Photos must have been taken in RAW but he wants JPEGs?!”  No, I’m not crazy. It will make everyone’s life easier if you don’t have to email me RAW files so please send JPEGs.  If your photo is among the top entries I will email to request the RAW file.  You may also submit a little info with the photo like the location and how you captured it. Winners and honorable mentions will be placed in the student gallery.

So those are the rules and here are the prizes:

  • 1st Prize: $100 gift card for bhphoto.com
  • 2nd Prize: signed 10″x 24″ panoramic print from my European trip this July.  I would post a photo, but I haven’t taken it yet! I will be posting a panoramic shot each day of my trip so you can choose your favorite.
  • 3rd Prize: Gift certificate for any workshop.

Send in your winners!

Those are the rules.  If you haven’t taken a workshop yet, check for dates in your area on dslrworkshops.com and  keep on taking photos for the current contest. Submissions for the next contest will be due in January 2011.

Good luck!!

Okello, I have a problem in that I edit my photos and my editing software saves them other than raw. So if I submit raw, it would not be exactly like the photo you are looking at in jpg. So what do I do?

Hi Lois, That’s the case for everyone since it has to be saved as a image file. If people send their JPEGs, they will be edited. I don’t expect them to look the same. I just want to be able to see the exif data to see shooting info and the date associated with the image. Good luck!
